The 8th International Inspiration meeting took place in Rome, Italy on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st. The purpose of Inspiration (“International Spine Research and Innovation”) is to gather each year a group of surgeons from all over the world driven by a high level Scientific Committee to interact amongst themselves on several topics during roundtables sessions. Just like every year, each surgeon was asked to present a clinical
case on one of three very different themes. Selected themes this year were: Management of spinal metastatic tumors / Why, when and how should we remove implants? / Anterior stabilization of degenerative cervical spinal lesions.
The meeting concluded on Saturday, November 1st with a conference on “Indications of preoperative neurophysiological monitoring: How can neurophysiology help in spine surgery?”. A new website will be put online by the end of the year to allow surgeons not present at this meeting to visualize the presentations. This year’s Inspiration meeting was the most successful ever with over 110 surgeons from 29 countries worldwide. The roundtable sessions were very engaging and raised a number of productive debates.
